Dawn teaches design concepts and color theory in watercolor along with the fun of using lots of water and many wet into wet techniques.  Refinement and sharp edges happen after layers of transparent watercolor, toward the completion of each painting. Layering creates rich, unique colors not possible from just mixing on the palette.  Dawn’s many students are always grateful for her sharing, as she holds nothing back.  Painting is for all to en-joy and be “in joy”.  Dawn loves to paint Florida subject matter.  Bealls Florida has produced a series of her paintings into women’s apparel in their “Art & Sol” collection. The experiment is to learn the many unique techniques that Dawn teaches and incorporate them into your own art!  Students will come away with new color and design knowledge and new ways of using their own intuition to create their own unique paintings.  All levels welcome.

About the Instructor:

imageInspired by nature, Dawn Davis loves to paint tropical flora and fauna.  She is a signature member of both the Kansas and New Mexico Watercolor societies and has been juried into shows by Southwestern Watercolor Society, Midwest Watercolor Society and now the National Watercolor  Society. Dawn travels to Hawaii and Florida for tropical inspiration.  When at home in Santa Fe, she  also paints southwestern landscapes, as seen in her first book; "From Landscapes to Flowerscapes”.   One of her callings in life is to teach others the joy of painting, and her many students have expressed gratitude  for her gift of sharing, as she is grateful beyond measure, for them.
