Confluence: France
Confluence: the connection of places and the gathering of people

May 21- June 26, 2015

Confluence is an exhibition series developed by Art Center Sarasota and Sister Cities Association of Sarasota to create a cultural bond through the visual arts.

Each year a Confluence exhibition is produced to highlight one of the Sister Cities. A connection is made in the city to find emerging and mid-career artists who live and work in the region.

In 2014, the Art Center presented Confluence: Israel, a highly acclaimed exhibition of ten artists working in a variety of mediums. One of the young artists, as part of the program, came to Sarasota where lasting friendships were made and a greater understanding of our two cultures was formed.

Art Center Sarasota, in collaboration with Sister Cities Association of Sarasota and Alliance Française de Sarasota, will produce an exhibition featuring artists from the area of Perpignan, France opening May 21 through June 26, 2015

Adeline Besson, a curator in Paris, will work together with us and understands the expectations and outcome of the exhibition. The curator will scout the area to bring a variety of contemporary works here to Sarasota. She will also locate an interesting artist to come and exchange cultural and lifestyle experiences with the people of Sarasota.

During the course of the exhibition, we will be scheduling programs for the public to enjoy related to the Perpignan area of France. These will include lectures, music, performances and food of the region.

We invite you to join us as a supporter of this exciting series of exhibitions that bridges cultures and brings our worlds closer together.

Thank you, merci beaucoup!
