Over the past four years, Michael has captured bold, atmospheric images of pioneering civil rights leaders, legendary journalists, dynamic entrepreneurs, and experts in fields like education, health care, and science as part of the “Listening to Black Voices” interview series created by Heather Dunhill and published by Sarasota Magazine.

For nearly four years, Heather Dunhill’s “Listening to Black Voices” interview series, published in Sarasota Magazine, has documented the lives and stories of Sarasota’s Black community, and each of those interviews has been accompanied by a portrait created by Sarasota photographer Michael Kinsey. Working in black and white, Kinsey has captured bold, atmospheric images of pioneering civil rights leaders, legendary journalists, dynamic entrepreneurs and experts in fields like education, health care and science.
